Compression Levels in Sports Socks

Athletes often choose compression levels that enhance performance, reduce muscle fatigue, and support recovery. Sports compression usually ranges from moderate to high, avoiding the strongest medical levels.

Light Compression
Range: 18–21 mmHg  |  Medical equivalent: Approx. CCL1
Basic support that improves circulation and helps prevent mild fatigue. Suitable for walking, light training, or extended daily wear.
Moderate Compression
Range: 22–32 mmHg  |  Medical equivalent: Approx. CCL2
Most common for sports: boosts endurance, reduces muscle vibration, and speeds recovery after intense training or competition.
High Compression
Range: 33–46 mmHg  |  Medical equivalent: Approx. CCL3
Used for maximum effort or extra support. Helps prevent injuries, control swelling, and optimise circulation during high‑intensity or endurance activities.

This classification roughly corresponds to medical levels CCL1–CCL3, adapted for sports use, prioritising comfort and performance, and avoiding very strong compressions reserved for medical prescription.

In this category you’ll find everything from light compression socks for long-term wear to high‑compression options for experienced athletes without medical conditions — no prescription required.

Note: In sports performance, certain compression levels are linked to specific sock lengths: for instance, high compression is most common in knee‑high models, while moderate and light compression are also available in mid‑calf, three‑quarter length, and even high‑performance ankle socks commonly used in running or trail.
